Eamonn Bell

PhD Student in Music Theory

Eamonn Bell graduated from Trinity College, Dublin with a B.A. (Mod.) Mathematics and Music in June 2013. He joined the Department of Music in Fall 2013.

His research interests include: computational and mathematical applications in music studies, the history of twentieth-century music theory, and methodological debates in music analysis.

His dissertation project, "The computational attitude in music theory", is advised by Prof. Joe Dubiel and describes the definition and growth of a computational attitude to music, expressed in writings by theorists and composers dating from before and after the development of digital computers.

Eamonn is teaching Techniques and Tools for the Critique of Digital Music in Fall 2018.
